Channel Lineups

Modified: 2008/01/10 03:24 by admin - Categorized as: Documentation
Got All Media allows any number of channels lineup per capture device. If no lineup is selected, channel list as downloaded with EPG is used. Some of the things that can be done in lineup:
  • Automatic or manual order of channels.
  • Custom naming for channels.
  • Adding new or deleting unused channels.
  • Mixing lineups with other lineups from same device or even switching to other device per channel.
Using ‘Channels Lineup’ button from the main screen of the relevant capture device can be used to modify ths default lineup. Additional lineups can be created and edited from Channels section of the capture device. Simplest lineup definition can be: Click on 'Channels Lineup', in Lineup screen click on 'Copy all EPG channels to lineup', click 'Sort By Channel Number'. Another simple way can be: Click on 'Channels Lineup', in Lineup screen click on 'Create from Tuned Channels', click 'Sort By Channel Number'.

Channel Tuning Process
Tuning settings can include: input number, input type (TV, FM radio, DTV...), connection type (Tuner, Composite and S-Video). GAM can tune the channel using channel settings, channel lineup settings or general settings. When no lineup is defined, GAM uses general settings as were selected during the Channels tuning process. Assuming the lineup was defined, GAM uses the settings as defined in lineup. Settings can be changed per channel, in this case GAM will use the channel settings.
For example: Lineup connection type can be Tuner, but specific channel may use Composite connection.

Channel Lineup Fields
Most of the fields in channel lineup can be edited using double-click on the field. New channel can be added by editing the last line. In most cases no need to make any change to the channel line after it was created from EPG channels or Tuned channels. Default settings for lineup channel are: 'Entry'=0, 'Info ID.'=empty, 'Profile'=empty, 'Connection'=default, 'Input Number'=empty, 'Video Cap'=empty or -1, 'Digital Number'=0, 'Subchannel'=0.

Entry field is alternative shortcut number for channels, this is relevant for only channel number entry in GAM.
For example: channel numbers 1,4,20,255 entry numbers for the channels can be 1,2,3,4.

Info Id. field allows for alternative EPG id per channel, mostly relevant when combining Analog and Digital channels in the same lineup.
For example: digital channel 20 can use Info Id. (EPG id) of analog channel 4.

Profile field allows using other lineup settings for the channel.
For example: Having 2 lineups Default and DTV, some channel in Default lineup can have DTV in profile field and GAM will use the DTV lineup settings whel tuning to this channel.

Connection field allows selecting connection type per channel.
For example: Lineup has connection type of Tuner, but channel 4 uses connection type 'S-Video'.

Input Number field allows selecting input number per channel.
For example: Lineup has Card Input number of 1, but channel 5 uses Input Number 2.

Video Cap. field allows switching to different capture device per channel. The number is the capture device order in the general screen starting from 0. Empty or -1 will not change the capture device.

Digital Number field allows using specific HDTV digital number when selecting the channel.

SubChannel field allows using specific HDTV subchannel when selecting the channel.
